How do you think the U.S. got the lowest software piracy rate? Is it: High income (therefore no necessity to pirate)? Location of major software corporations' HQs in the U.S.? Belief in absolute morals?

Do you know of the availability of the products in Vietnam or China? Are you sure all the products they desire can be shipped to their homes as easily as they would be in other nations, such as North American or European nations?

I think piracy has a lot to do with availability. If the only way to view a product or to obtain a product is through piracy, and there is no other way of viewing the product, it makes it rather unfair for the people who live in the countries where they cannot legally obtain an item they wish to view. Rights are taken for granted in the countries where they can receive products quickly and easily versus the countries that cannot.

BSA figures are fudged. Aside by scaling the numbers up, they assume that any copy is a "loss".
These are NOT losses:
a) Someone who takes a copy and never uses it (collector).
b) Someone who would not have bought the software even if they could not have copied it.

Tell me how you are going to pay 50$ for a video game when you make 150$ a month, and 100 of that is for rent and electrical the other is for food. You idiots have no idea how the rest of the world lives.

US is not totally innocent nor does it have less software piracy, the only reason the rate is so low is that to total amount of software is so much more than anywhere else.
If you look at software piracy losses (financial losses) you will see that the US has about well over 6 billion in losses, the highest in the world. The second highest is China with around 3 billion.
So the US should really be considered as the WORST when it comes to software piracy! They don't have the same excuse as lesser developed nations, they can actually afford to pay for it and have very good access to it.
