Nevada, Utah, Arizona and California were known as the Alta California Territory under Mexican administration. Texas was part of the Coahuila y Tejas state, and Kansas was only a claim.

Looking to the map of the Mexican political division before the war with the United States,i am wondering if the mexican goverment gave the name of Nevada,Arizona,Colorado and even Utah and Kansas,..who gave names to what we know now as these states?The mexican goverment or the USA goverment?i just wondering.
